What is it about?

This publication lists records of seaweeds collected from the Tongan archipelago that were examined at various historical collections in renowned world herbaria (Natural History Museum of London, Bishop Museum, UC Berkeley Herbarium...). It also includes taxonomic information, some illustrations of important specimens, and notes about the distribution and biogeography of the Tongan flora.

Why is it important?

There are very few published works on the seaweeds of Tonga and this publication is a step forward in improving our knowledge of the Tongan marine flora.

Perspectives

I feel that more work should be published on Tongan seaweeds, including a compendium.
