What is it about?

Infrared images of groups of piglets can detect a temperature response to vaccination. The same infrared images can be used to measure the clustering behaviour of piglets and this behaviour is related to the temperature response.

Why is it important?

Using frequent monitoring of the temperature of groups of pigs by infrared thermography it may be possible to early detect febrile responses to disease. The diagnostic utility of this approach may be increased by including clustering behaviour derivied from the same infrared images.
