What is it about?

High grain yield potential under drought stress and non stress conditions is an important trait in upland rice genetic improvement programme. This paper reports the yield potential of selected upland rice varieties (with main focus on Ofada rice landraces in Nigeria) under drought and fully irrigated conditions.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that most of these Ofada rice cultivars in south west Nigeria are susceptible to reproductive stage drought stress and also characterised by tall plant architecture leading to lodging.

Perspectives

This paper gave me more insight to the high yield potential of some popular upland rice landraces in south western Nigeria under fully irrigated conditions.
