What is it about?
Laminated sediments and the presence of strange spherules, known as "blueberries", lying at Meridiani Planum on Mars, seem to be consistent with the existence of life on Mars and could explain the biological origin of sediments at Meridiani Planum, similar to those of terrestrial stromatolites.

Why is it important?
The Martian deposits, probably produced by cyanobacterial activity, could represent a multiform product of bacterial colonies.
Perspectives
On Mars, there is evidence of fossils while the sedimentary and laminated outcroppings show structures of biological origin.
