What is it about?

This is a descriptive evaluation of a counselling service in a GP service, which is a model that can be replicated in other centres.

Why is it important?

It described how a counselling placement service was established with mutual benefits for both the trainees and the practice. It relied on providing good quality supervision, some administration, and making rooms available for sessions, but those were the only costs in the establishment of the service.

Perspectives

I am very proud of the service we ran at this GP surgery, which helped many counsellors on their career path, whilst also giving therapy to the patients without too much of a waiting time.
