What is it about?
The contribution reports that an apparent simple line defect in pyrite has a completely different character and that the b = ½[100] edge dislocation does not exist in pyrite.

Why is it important?
The defect is resulted from heterogeneity (marcasite). The recognition of such heterogeneities is important as they have different effects on material properties than dislocations and they are unrelated to plastic deformation.
Perspectives
The band gaps of pyrite and marcasite differ, and therefore such a defect changes the electronic properties of the host material
