What is it about?
Building on the research of Blaivis et al. we undertook a simulation trial to determine if health care professionals could compress a weight adequate to occlude blood flow in the abdominal aorta and internal iliac arteries.

Why is it important?
It was unknown prior to our modest simulation study if health care professionals could achieve the weights required to occlude the deep vessels of the abdomen and pelvis.
Perspectives
Weights compressed by heavy clinicians appear to be adequate for deep vessel occlusion, though there are several important limitations to our simulation study.
