What is it about?

Right pulmonary artery to left atrial fistula is an uncommon congenital anomaly which is usually treated surgically or more recently with transcatheter techniques using a variety of devices. We have for the first time shown that a small communication of this nature can undergo spontaneous closure

Why is it important?

We need not address such communications if they are small, more so in smaller babies

Perspectives

I think, although this is just a single case, it certainly adds to the available literature since such a phenomenon for this type of communication has never been reported. May add value to our therapeutic outlook in this subset of patients
