What is it about?

Advance directives are important for nursing home residents with dementia. This paper examines that factors influence the presence of advance directives for nursing home residents with dementia in Taiwan.

Why is it important?

Our findings show that advance directives were uncommon for nursing home residents with dementia. Our findings emphasize the need to develop policies and strategies, which ensure that all residents of nursing homes and their surrogates are aware of their right to an advance directive.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. This article also lead to professionals of dementia care contacting me and ultimately to a greater involvement in ACP ans end-of-life care of dementia research.
