What is it about?

Although the Antarctic Peninsula is one of the most rapidly warming region in the world in the last 60 years, recently it presented a significant cooling trend. In this article we examine how robust is the recent cooling trend, that is if they are sensitive to the choice of the initial and ending year to make the trends. We found that trends with shorter than 20-year long are very sensitive and not robust in this region.

Why is it important?

In a region with large and long-term variability such as the Antarctic Peninsula, significant trends can be misleading. In this article we assess how robust are the temperature trends not looking for the significance but for how sensitive they are with respect the time of choice.

Perspectives

We want to better understand the variability of the Antarctic Peninsula and to draw attention to the necessity to go beyond the statistics and significances when we analyze the data.
