Why is it important?

Based on the navigation data of all seismic reflection research cruises stored in SCAR's Seismic Data Library System for Cooperative Research (SDLS) histograms and statistical analyses are computed to quantify the environmental impact of these research surveys in terms km/year no. of surveys/year, km/survey area, etc., no. of surveys with small, medium and large air-gun (array) sizes, etc.
