What is it about?

We tend to think that spatial justice is a recent development. Is it really so? This article argues that no, we can go back as far as 17th century to discover scholars who can legitimately be read as at. least predecessors of the idea of spatial justice. German philosopher and mathematician Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz is used as an example to defend this argument.

Why is it important?

It is indispensable to knows many similar ideas as possible in their context and implications in order to develop new insights and theories. Leibniz has to offer so much to many facets of our contemporary preoccupations, including the idea of spatial justice. Even if we ultimately might disagree with his perspective, reflecting on his insights enriches immensely our thinking.
