What is it about?

Moore (2008) is a historical treatment of Australian English ‘aimed at the general reader.’ It not only details the distinguishing features of Australian English but also discusses where Australian English came from, the forces that moulded it, and where it is going.

Why is it important?

Bruce Moore is a distinguished Australian lexicographer and his knowledge of the history of Australian English is second to none, which is in large part attributable to his editorship of the "Australian National Dictionary" (2016), a fully comprehensive dictionary of Australianisms on historical principles.

Perspectives

Reading Moore's book for this review really gave me some wonderful insights into the growth of Australian English.
