This paper looks at the current generation of older gay men and ways in which life has changed for them since they were aged in their twenties.

Why is it important?

The current generation of older gay men were adults during the early days of gay liberation when many fought against extreme forms of homophobia and discrimination. Little is known about how life has changed for these men. This paper tells the story, through the words of older Australian gay men, about some of the changes in their lives, including changes in gay community, sex and relationships, public acceptance, and their experience of aging as a gay man today.
