What is it about?
The article argues that both of the phrases in common use to describe the early expansion of Muhammad's community in the seventh century CE--the "Islamic conquests" and the "Arab conquests"--are, in different ways, misleading. But there has not yet emerged an alternative terminology that seems satisfactory.
