What is it about?

This study confirmed the finding of slow binocular rivalry (BR) in bipolar disorder (BD), and showed that BR was not slow in schizophrenia or major depressive disorder. The findings also suggested that high-strength (salient) stimuli are optimal for distinguishing BD from controls. Furthermore, this paper reviewed the literature on rivalry rates in psychiatric disorders, and raised the possibility of using slow BR as a clinically meaningful diagnostic aid in psychiatry.
