What is it about?
Mark 1.41 in most manuscripts reads that Jesus was "moved to compassion" before healing a leper. A handful of witnesses, however, show Jesus "becoming angry." This article explores the manuscripts that witness to Jesus' "anger" and ultimately concludes that, though interesting, the anger reading is not original.

Why is it important?
The scholarly tide has been moving toward Jesus "becoming angry" in Mark 1.41 rather than him being "moved to compassion." This is seen even in popular Bible translations like the NIV (2011). This article is the first to thoroughly examine each of the manuscripts that witnesses to Jesus' "anger."
