What is it about?

In order to quickly estimate the most suitable electrode for a cochlear implantation a software application has been developed. In our study we evaluate the usefulness and reliability of this software application on 23 consecutive operated ears and we found a good correlation between the predicted and measured data.

Why is it important?

It allows you to determine the exact position of each electrode contact inside the cochlea and also to avoid (as possible) the intracochlear trauma by using the most suitable electrode (i.e. avoids inserting a too long electrode in a small cochlea)

Perspectives

To create an individual stimulation algorithm for the cochlear implant recipients that accurately respects tonotopicity (Greenwood's law)
