What is it about?

To set guidlines about predictors of middle ear barotrauma in aircrews. We used resting middle ear pressure and nine step test(as a test for eustachian tube function) as predictors for barotrauma

Why is it important?

Our research set guidlines for fitness for flying in aircrews and it is the first study to use a nine step test as predictor of barotrauma in flying. By using these guidlines , we can decrease the grounding time of aircrews and not exposing them to unnecessary risks of barotrauma
