What is it about?

Currently different criteria, including feed conversion ratio, gross efficiency, net efficiency, residual feed intake and so on are used to measure animal efficiency. This paper proposes a new criterion of feed efficiency, called proportional residual energy intake and could be used in all types of farm animals.

Why is it important?

This criterion overcomes some problems attributed to the previous measures of feed efficiency and could be widely used in all studies in farm animals.

Perspectives

This paper is result of my several studies on different criteria of animal efficiency. In my opinion, the criterion proposed in this paper has huge potential to be used in a wide range of studies in all nutritional, physiological and genetic fields.
