What is it about?

Test wheat performance for over eight crop seasons. A general recommendation to grow this crop is to apply NPK in granular forms. This represents large amounts of fertilizers. We showed that this crop could succeed by replacing the granular form of P with a foliar input containing this element. This strategy represents an enormous saving for farmers.

Why is it important?

World P fertilizer production is declining due to several reasons. One of them is the high rate of application to crops. Thus, it is necessary to identify crop management strategies to reduce these high rates without damaging crop yields.

Perspectives

I hope this journal article is useful to researchers dealing with this issue and overall contributes to saving P from extinction.
