What is it about?

This article discusses why computational methods are important for studying texts from the Middle East, especially in Arabic and Persian.

Why is it important?

These methods are very new and should within 5 years change the ways that people undertake research in Arabic and Persian. We need to explain both how these methods change our ways of working and also the politics of this work.

Perspectives

It is important to communicate to a broad audience the potential of Digital Humanities methods so that we can build up field-wide expertise.
