What is it about?

An odd description in a later book of Xenophon's Anabasis has a Black Sea tribe communicating by shouting across an unfeasibly large distance. However it may be that the author is actually reporting on the phenomenon of whistled speech, still practised in the same region of the Black Sea today as well as in remote communities in Greece, South America and the Canary Islands.
