What is it about?

Herodotus, "the father of history," is the first author writing in ancient Greek to use the verb "to go" (erchomai) as an auxiliary, and it always appears in expressions meaning "I am going to say." I show that Herodotus uses this construction to strengthen his network of narrative signposts that guide his readers through his account.
