What is it about?

Why is it important?

Very little is known about what older people actually eat. This study reports accurate intake measures for older New Zealanders and shows that Maori and non-Maori eat different sources of protein, fat and carbohydrate. The impacts of these intakes will be measured over time to see what are the optimal intakes for older people.

Perspectives

Food is the staff of life, and we found that bread was a essential source of both protein and carbohydrate. we all should make sure the bread available has optimal nutrients in it to benefit the health of older people.
