What is it about?

We elucidated the molecular changes involved in one of the pathways (Tp53) at an early stage of colon cancer in rats exposed to diets containing the non-digestible fraction of cooked bean.

Why is it important?

These changes were mediated by signalling pathways involved in apoptosis, cell-cycle regulation and arrest, inhibition of proliferation and inflammation and DNA repair.

Perspectives

Common bean fiber (non-digestible fraction) exerts chemoprotective effects on early stage of colon cancer.
