Why is it important?
Our results dispel the idea that morphology has nothing to say about the relationships of seed plants, and opens to the possibility of integrating fossil taxa in a more direct way. This is extremely important given the long timespans separating the surviving groups of the seed plants, and the potential information that fossils could have in understanding their evolutionary dynamics.
