Why is it important?

The results of Study 1 indicate that the more conscientious the employee, the stronger the relationship between perceived transformational leadership and job satisfaction. The findings of Study 2 show the mediating role of psychological empowerment on job satisfaction, in that when employees perceive their leader as transformational they feel more psychologically empowered, which in turn increases job satisfaction levels.

Perspectives

Accumulating evidence confirms the direct relationship between employees’ transformational leadership perceptions regarding their supervisors and job satisfaction however, studies on the effects between perceived transformational leadership and job satisfaction are rare and mostly neglect individual differences. This paper extends the association between perceived transformational leadership and job satisfaction by adding to the body of work on the follower-centred leadership perspective.
