What is it about?

This research is concentrated on the droplet impact an an inclined heated surface. The surface temperature is very high. In this case, a vapor layer is formed between droplet and surface which prevents direct contact between them. The effect of the surface inclination on the droplet spreading radius, droplet contact time and heat removal from surface is investigated.

Why is it important?

Droplet impact on a superheated surface has a great importance in industrial processes. In this research, a direct numerical simulation is performed and vaporization rate around droplet is calculated accurately and is used during the solution procedure.

Perspectives

More investigations is needed for better understand of the physics of this phenomenon. Recently, studies have been conducted about droplet impact on liquid surfaces in the Leidenfrost regime which is an interesting and applied subject.
