What is it about?

The flexible plates studied here can be thought of as a simplified model of a full swimmer or of a flapping propulsor. The plate kinematics is the passive outcome of a strongly-coupled fluid structure interaction problem, which differentiates them from muscle-driven case of animal swimmers.
