What is it about?

In this short paper we studied the linear and nonlinear effects on rotating flow and found that nonlinear effect suppresses the resonant response. This result can be applied to engineering, geophysical and astrophysical flows, e.g. rotary machines, precessing flow in geophysics and dynamical tide in binary stars.

Why is it important?

It is pointed out that the previous linear calculations overestimated the resonant response and dissipation in rotating flow.

Perspectives

I wish that the researchers in engineering, geophysical and astrophysical communities will be interested in this paper.
