What is it about?

This work is about waves in channels that can branch into different reaches. It is both about the modelling (setting equations) and computational simulations for such problems.

Why is it important?

It relates to problems such as tsunamis in fjords (which has happened in Norway due to landslide) as well as flood waves in regions where the channel (river) branches into two reaches. Important to predict wave features downstream in each individual branch. Anew compatibility condition was deduced at the junction of the forked region.

Perspectives

There is more work to be done along these lines of nonlinear waves traveling in graph-like domains.
