What is it about?

This paper explores the relationship between heat transfer and fluid mechanics in the case of a heated cylinder that is oscillated about its own axis. This is a highly coupled flow, with the heat transfer affecting the wake characteristic, and vice versa. This paper explains how the coupling happens and what effects there are. It also explores the effect of forcing, and opens up means to enhancing the heat transfer. The measurement techniques used include Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and temperature measurements.
