What is it about?

There is no doubting the importance of resilience and it is an easy construct to understand but how does it relate to other constructs that we know and can measure? Every "new" construct should be subjected to a critical review to see whether it is indeed new, old wine in a new bottle, or perhaps a blend of old wines.

Why is it important?

If we gain a good appreciation of the true nature of a construct, we are in a better position to construct measures (if they are needed), and to design effective interventions.

Perspectives

"Resilience" is a term that found its way into popular (extremely popular!) usage before we understood its true meaning. Psychologists should not fall into the same trap.
