What is it about?
We screened healthy women delivering babies at delivery for the peri-rectal carriage of highly resistant gram negative bacteria (CRE) and found 2 colonized women with no history of antibiotics or travel.

This is significant as it demonstrates that these highly resistant organisms are not confined to sick, high risk hospitalized patients but have already spread into the community where further spread is to be expected.
