We explored whether different neighbourhoods in Vancouver and surrounding areas have different rates of bystander CPR and different survival rates for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Why is it important?
This is the first study to explore the geographic distribution of cardiac arrest in Vancouver and surrounding areas. This study is also the first to describe higher rates of neurologically intact survival for arrests occurring in areas with higher rates of commuters not using a car, and those with higher proportions of ethnic minority Chinese.
