What is it about?

Chapter 12 brings together the key lessons learned in the previous chapters of the book. It summarizes the necessary overlap of technical development, operational use and political motivation that is essential to understanding successful development of high speed marine craft in general and in air cushion craft forms in particular. The chapter concludes with recommended avenues to pursue for future research and development and design in both academic institutions and design establishments.

Why is it important?

It is important to recognize that in the successful development of such unique craft that an understanding of technology, engineering design, cost, planned use and political motivation are all needed if any degree of success is to be achieved. This book has sought to present these various inputs to such craft in coherent and separate but related chapters for the use by academics, engineers, program managers and government strategists.

Perspectives

As a designer, builder of such craft and reviewer and program manager in government establishments, the author provides a unique perspective on these important contributors to successful craft design.
