Why is it important?

"The book also provides a well-rounded presentation of the topic and cites important references for further study. This volume would serve as an excellent advanced undergraduate or graduate text for an environmental economics/economic development class. Highly recommended.”" - Choice "This book provides the definitive treatment of the frontier land expansion approach to economic development, and, for that reason alone, represents an important contribution to the literature. But the book offers a great deal more.... In addition to its intellectual appeal... the book is extremely useful for classroom settings; this volume can be used in a development policy course for generalists or, alternatively, in a graduate development economics course having a rigorous theory and modelling focus." - Journal of Natural Resources Policy Research Read more at http://www.cambridge.org/us/academic/subjects/economics/economic-development-and-growth/natural-resources-and-economic-development#QDYSoX5gB0kPCyFc.99

Perspectives

I have studied the role of natural resources in economic development in low and middle-income countries for close to 40 years. Yet, there has never been a single text that explores systematically this relationship.
