How do different rain forest termite communities differ?
What is it about?
This brings together comparable data on the diversity, abundance and biomass of termites in tropical rain forests in South America, Africa and South-east Asia. It shows that different regions have very different sets of termites, with the African region having a much greater biomass, particularly of true soil-feeders.
Why is it important?
Termites don't do the same thing in different regions.
