Why is it important?

The mean pain score (VNS) at 2, 6, 12, 18 and at 24 hours post-procedure was 1.7±1.6, 1.4±1.4, 0.7±1.0, 0.4±0.7, and 0.1±0.4, respectively. Pain relief medications after the procedure were pethidine, tramadol and paracetamol. Most sedation related adverse events was hypotension.

Perspectives

Overall abdominal pain severity after EUS procedure is of mild intensity and occurred mainly at two to six hours postprocedure. Analgesic agents routinely used to alleviate it, are safe and effective.
