What is it about?

The nutrient status of Sable antelope is influenced by their plant diet, which in turn is influenced by underlying soil type and land management practices. Measuring elemental concentrations in soils and plants enables us to identify potential dietary deficiencies that may affect Sable antelope health.

Why is it important?

Numbers of Sable antelope continue to decline in Kenya with less than 100 in the Shimba Hills National Park. It is important for their continued existence there to identify factors leading to their declining numbers.

Perspectives

It feels good to have helped out in some small way in this conservation work.
