How Kodak built the first web-based information management system

Researchers at Eastman Kodak, Rochester, N.Y., have created a custom-designed laboratory information management system (TIMS) that is the first to be wholly based on World Wide Web software components. The system enables users inside the company to access chemical information in the corporate database using web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer, easy-to-use programs with which most users are familiar.
