What is it about?
Buffer deprotonation is not the rate-limiting step on proton permeation. We show that external buffer concentration has little effect between 1-100 mM, but lowering internal buffer from 100 to 10 or 1 mM alters the wave-form of proton currents, due to depletion of protonated buffer from the internal solution.
