What is it about?

Long non-coding RNA have been shown to have great potential as gene regulators and in various cancers recently. The GENCODE project list around 14,000 genes in human that code for these transcripts. A deep profiling of lncRNA expression is monocytes is missing. Here in this study we profiled the monocytes transcripts and their expression from 15 different studies.

Why is it important?

Provides a baseline expression profile of lncRNAs in monocytes in humans.

Perspectives

Here I also present a custom pipeline to filter novel lncRNAs from any RNA-Seq samples. This study shows the potential of high throughput sequencing.
