What is it about?
The role of a rotavirus protein, critical for its replication and therefore for a successful infection, was so far unknown. Here, we are describing an activity of this protein on the biochemical level.

Why is it important?
Although we already have an efficient rotavirus vaccine set, an understanding of the activities of proteins in viruses would be necessary to develop drugs targeting this protein, therefore treating a rotavirus infection. Furthermore, this might also be useful against other viruses in which proteins with such activities are described.
