What is it about?

Frictional properties of the polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) hydrogel as an anticipative material for cartilage replacement were examined in a pendulum hip simulator. The use of PVA inserts articulating with ceramic femoral head caused outstanding reduction in friction coefficient compared to commercial hip pairs.
