What is it about?

The present study was carried out to investigate the potential protective effect of hemin against CIS-induced reproductive toxicity in male rats and to elucidate the antitumor effect of hemin alone or in combination with CIS on prostate cancer cell line. Finally, to determine whether ZnPP suppresses cancer cell growth through the inhibition of HO-1 in a human cancer cell.

Why is it important?

The results of the present study showed that hemin, a potent HO-1 inducer, ameliorated testicular damage of CIS in adult male rats without decreasing, but rather augmenting, its anticancer effect in a PC3 cell line.
