What is it about?

We all too often read about the tribal nature of festivals - we turn up to a festival and are quickly swept up in the atmosphere until we become nothing more than a face in the homogenous crowd. While nice to imagine, the reality of creating a community identity is not a straightforward act - in fact creating the wrong atmosphere in a festival environment can cause disintegration and disharmony among the audience. This paper examines how a festival successfully creates a harmonious environment which allows all attendees the chance to adopt a harmonious identity, share the buzz, and become a true tribal crowd.
