This study looked at how rubrics that allotted most of the points to grades and test scores affected admissions of students of different racial identity groups and how it changed when the weight of scores was adjusted.

Why is it important?
Grades and test scores are used for admitting students most often, but don't reliable predict student success. Further, due to economic disparities and grading bias, this practice tends to favor students with greater access to resources and who are not from stigmatized racial identity groups.
Perspectives
This article provides a practical example of a holistic admissions rubric and demonstrates how the amount of points given to each criterion could impact admission of underrepresented students.
