What is it about?

Probit and logit functions are common in handling problems of choosing between two options, say yes or no to a technology. In this paper we try to show that other functional forms of dealing with those choices exist and should be considered.

Why is it important?

The data used and the selection tools suggest that the other functional forms may perform better than the commonly used probit and logit.

Perspectives

This publication provides evidence that functional forms other than logit and probit should be explored particularly in cases where the magnitude of the coefficient estimated would constitute grounds for policy and business decisions.
